Offside isn't an issue at the moment, but football is having an issue nonetheless; back passing. Teams such as Spain, even thus winning the world cup, provide extremely boring games - the final was mostly boring and Portugal x Spain, where both teams played the same script, the most boring game of the tournament. An idea to fix it could be to apply hockey-like rules, a line in the middle of each side of the field marks the back play, so that as soon as the ball crosses the midfield, the attacking team can't pass back beyond that line. Reposition could be a goal kick for the opposite team in order to prevent dangerous free kicks from that position.

Every football fan understands and is okay with the offside rule. The only people (in the comment and the video maker) who have a problem with it are the people calling the sport soccer

VAR has gone too far. It should always be visible to the human eye so the players can know for certain if they’re offsides or not

Hockey did it right by creating the blue line and making it clear cut you can’t enter the offensive zone before the puck. Cut and dry, no room for interpretation.

I don’t mind the offside rule, I just think it becomes silly after the ball is deep in the offensive zone. Once the ball is past the 18 yard line, then there really is no need for a rule designed to prevent “camping out” or “cherry picking.”

I agree the offside rule should be a thing. However, they need to change the rule a little. A Toe, Knee, nose being behind the last defender being called offside is INSANE. If you want to do half a leg behind, or a full shoulder behind. Fine. I can at least grant that. But because someone’s TOE is behind the last defender is insanity

No one minds offsides, it’s the weird discretion that comes with it. “Oh but he wasn’t trying to contribute to the play so we ignore him”. “Ya he was offside, but the defensive player touched so he’s fine. Except the defense didn’t mean to touch it so he’s actually offside”. It’s ridiculous

Just make it so once ball is possessed inside the 18 yard box, there is no more off side. It prevents camping. But does not punish the near goal play for possession.

They've perfected so far, my only change would be VAR. 1 Challenge per team and ball sensor should only be used in determining wether the ball crossed the goal line, this allows for more fluid play, not using bar every penalty dispute or red cards, let's give the refs some accountability.Also, red cards should only be given when there's malicious intent, NOT ACCIDENTAL. Finally, offsides should be determined by feet lines, not shoulders or head offside, mere foot 🦶 position aligned.
