@nbcnewyork: Two structural support beams on the 21st floor of a 38-story under-construction building in Manhattan started buckling Tuesday morning, triggering a mass evacuation, street closures and a large emergency response, officials say. The building, formerly Pfizer's global headquarters, is being converted into a 1,500-unit luxury rental complex. It was evacuated, along with neighboring buildings. "At about 8am, FDNY received reports that bricks were falling from a building under construction on E. 42nd St between 2nd and 3rd Avenue," Mayor Zohran Mamdani said at an unrelated press conference Tuesday morning. The mayor instructed those in the area to follow the instructions of those on the ground.
