@npr: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth invited Pastor Doug Wilson to give a sermon at the Pentagon earlier this year. Wilson was invited as part of Hegseth’s monthly Christian worship service. The pastor’s appearance at the Pentagon was controversial. Wilson is a self-described Christian nationalist. He's called for repealing women’s right to vote, he’s defended slavery and he believes homosexuality should be a crime. Not long ago, those beliefs were considered fringe. But today, Wilson's teachings are entering the mainstream, according to religious studies scholars. That is why NPR's Leila Fadel sat down with Doug Wilson at his home church in Moscow, Idaho, where he explained why he wants to repeal a woman's right to vote. You can hear Wilson's full interview on NPR.org or on YouTube or Spotify.
