I really felt like I was looking in a mirror when she freaked out about cleaning, I’ve been struggling with my depression a lot the past few years and my brain sounds exactly like that. Im upset with the backlash the show’s been getting though, I think a lot of those ppl just really do not know what it’s like to go through that kinda stuff tbh

Personally I disagree with one point, and that’s in terms of the first episodes ending. As an ex cigarette smoker and an addict of other things, I really connected with the ending, because it shows her want and drive to quit while acknowledging that wanting/having the intention to quit, doesn’t mean it will happen right away or even soon. Most addicts WANT to quit years before they actually do, if they ever. To me, the ending left a lot of potential for progress in the future and down the road, she’ll hopefully gain the willpower to truly quit. But we still have a whole season to get through, and I am excited to see her development throughout.

I hope she gets worse and dies eventually to prove a point and drill into ppls head this isn't cute or anything to glamorize at all if she won't get better like most hope, you want to spend all the money on cigs and nothing else, it will all catch up to you one day, I love this character but I feel like this is a show that would work good with a happy or a bad ending, it would suck 100% if they don't do anything at all with it,, I say this as someone who lives a life close like this mf she makes me so sad and WANT to change even more, change before it gets worse and I end up living a life EXACTLY like her. I hope no one stones me down for giving my mentally ill Chainsmokers opinion on the mentally ill Chainsmoker show

This has been on my radar and I’m interested in watching the first episode, but I agree with your hesitations!! I liked Wonder Egg Priority because it was cute girls with serious problems, and relatable problems, but if there’s no growth and it really is just cat girls doing drugs…I’m good.

Yeah, I have no idea how to feel about this one. Gonna let it marinate and see what other people are saying about it. The animation looks really crisp tho. Hope there’s a “what comes next” about it all.

I used to have a severe addiction with nicotine, it was so hard to quit and seeing this series literally looked like I was looking in the mirror and I sometimes found it hard to find purpose in life

I watched it last night, this episode clearly was aware of the trauma and pain smoking can cause to people and to those around them, and it still had the balls to joke about it. I found myself laughing despite that. I can see an unhealed version of myself hating the humor in this show, but for now, I'm definitely rooting for it.

as someone whos 3 years sober I just dont like the substance they used to represent addiction. nicotine addiction doesnt do this!!!! what the show depicts is more akin to an actual drug addiction. I am 3 years sober but still addicted to cigars but no one in their right mind would say im not sober for smoking cigars chronically. alcohol would have been a better substance if they didnt want to represent drugs. a big part of addiction non addicts dont talk about or represent is that the reason we keep going is because withdrawals are incredibly painful. nicotine withdrawals are not painful so its not as much as a strong motivator to get a fix as for example an 0pi4te. dopesickness is incredibly painful and difficult and thats a large motivator to get our next fix. you can't get dopesick from nicotine period

personally, I'll never watch it. I struggle w Mary Jane addiction and mental illness and i do struggle to keep my house clean. I wanna be better and watching this show would make me resurface feelings im not ready for 😭

this first episode honestly hurt to watch. I didnt laugh, I didnt find its jokes funny. I know people like this. I felt like I was watching my 42 year old divorced coworker as a cat girl and it just made me feel fucking depressed.

Also, I definitely watched this because of @Chumpy and appreciated his perspective on it! I am glad that I saw it, it’s so different from what I got. I thought it was just going to be a cute cat girl doing nice cigarette things which as a former smoker I wanted to avoid because I’m too easily influenced lmao
