I am currently working on a research project about the legal statements in Surah Yusuf. One of the research focuses on comparing the story of Joseph in the Torah with the story of Joseph in the Quran. While the story itself is the same, and the characters are almost identical, the events are completely different. The Quranic text is miraculous in every sense of the word, particularly from a legal perspective. There are clear legal terms not found in the Torah, as well as narratives with legal implications—meaning they present explicit legal facts within a legal context, similar to what we teach law students. Furthermore, the psychology of the characters in the story has allowed me to extract more than eleven legal principles from it alone.
