Plumber here. Buy a bottle of Cirtinator from Majestic Solitions and run a 12:1 ratio in the washer without using the soap dispenser. It’ll run the mold and mildew out and kill the smell

Use powder soap ONLY!!!! My maintenance guy told me to never use liquid soap bc it causes so much mildew! That was a game changer for me.

I have never not once used fabric softener in my washer and my machine looked just like this so it’s definitely not a fabric softener thing.
