Could it perhaps be that it's because they grew up when ADHD was better understood and accepted, so they felt less ashamed for getting help or are now aware they can get help unlike older generations? My dad instead of getting treatment for his ADHD, flailed around in his life until his 50s, only now reaching a functional level of adulthood, because his generation grew up with the idea that he was just lazy or that ADHD meds are hyper-addictive drugs. I grew up with meds starting at 11, some not super helpful accommodations in high school that some teachers shamed me for, supportive parents and friends who actually knew what ADHD is, and social media that normalizes getting help for it and not just accepting that I'm never going to make anything of myself. While I do still need a lot of help, I'm way ahead of every ADHD adult I know when it comes to quality of life, learning how to accommodate myself, and asking for help. I would be infinitely better off if I could also get through college or just have enough emergency money to not worried about being homeless if I was able to have the time to get through school I need instead of having to repeatedly burn myself out and fail classes trying to work and get through school at the same time. Turns out disabilities are disabling and our lives get better when we're properly supported

ADHD affects your daily life, it can be managed but it cannot be fully cured therefore people with it deserve a safety net or risk unemployment, debt and homelessness.

Saying PIP has "no work search conditions" is deliberately misleading as it implies that PIP is an out of work benefit. You're implying that PIP is for people who can't work and that getting PIP means you no longer have to work, which isn't true.

PIP has nothing to do with employment status because it’s to help with the extra costs of a disability and not a replacement for earnings. Who on earth would be able to survive on £76 or £114 a week?

PIP helps people like myself access employment through disability equipment & specialist therapy. However, I do think that social care & the NHS & the benefits system should work together to support disabled people

But there should be more jobs that support individuals with disabilities. I have ptsd and adhd. Since my diagnosis it’s been challenging maintaining employment or obtaining employment (that is a living wage) with ADA accommodations. It’s frustrating. I want to work

We need incentives for companies to hire and accommodate neurodiverse people. PiP isn’t a lot of money. People wouldn’t apply for it if it wasn’t necessary

Yesterday I had to buy a back brace for £25, I had to pay £20 for Taxis to get up to Physio, which was £60. This is because my back is so bad that I have to have treatment before I can actually go to work. It didn’t really help. That was just one day – over £100 just trying to stay functioning. That’s what I use my PIP for. So that I can keep functioning and work.

This just isn't how disability benefits work; they're completely and entirely functional rather than medical. Decades ago they were based on what diagnosis someone had, but now they are based on functional assessments of impairment irrespective of diagnosis.
