I think the difference is more about the fanbases than gender. Nicki has a lot of fans who are more liberal or part of the LGBTQ+ community, so supporting Trump was always going to get a stronger backlash from her own audience. Ronaldo’s fanbase is different and probably includes more conservative fans, so more people were willing to say “it’s his opinion.” But yeah none should be excused.

Most of Nicki’s fanbase is gay males or females, while most of ronaldos is straight males. We have known for a very long time that straight males are the biggest group of trump supporters which is why ronaldo is getting less hate. Is this not obvious to you???
