@razzatuition: A Smarter Way to Multiply Decimals in SATs Arithmetic! ✏️🧠 One of the biggest barriers for children in arithmetic is seeing a decimal and immediately thinking it's difficult. In this video, I model a question from the 2026 SATs Arithmetic paper and show a much more accessible way to approach it. 💡 The question involves multiplying 0.09 × 24. Rather than tackling the decimal straight away, I show children how to: ✅ Multiply 0.09 by 100 to make it 9 wholes ✅ Complete the much simpler calculation 24 × 9 using column multiplication ✅ Then make the answer 100 times smaller at the end, giving the correct answer of 2.16 By manipulating the numbers in this way, children aren't just learning a method—they're developing a much deeper understanding of place value and number relationships. It also makes challenging questions feel far more manageable, helping to build confidence as well as mathematical fluency. 📈✨ These are exactly the kinds of strategies I teach in my weekly tuition sessions. 👨🏫 Year 5 SATs Preparation Group 📅 Every Wednesday 🕠 5:45pm – 6:45pm Designed for children moving into Year 6 this September, these sessions build strong arithmetic skills, deepen mathematical understanding and prepare pupils well in advance for their SATs. 📩 Message Razza Tuition to find out more or reserve a place. #Year5Maths #Year6SATs #SATsPreparation #Arithmetic #PrimaryMaths
