@felidaecentre: A little growl, a lot of respect. 🦁❤️ Meet Shasha-Lee, our beautiful 18-year-old lioness, having one of her “growling moments.” Many people assume a lion is always angry when it growls, but that’s not necessarily true. Lions communicate through a range of vocalizations, and a growl can simply be their way of expressing that they want a little more personal space, are feeling protective, or are communicating with the pride or the people they know. At Felidae Centre, we work alongside our lions every single day, and moments like these happen naturally. We never tease, provoke, or intentionally upset our animals to get dramatic videos or photos. Their welfare and trust will always come before social media. By spending time with them every day, we’re privileged to witness authentic behaviours like this, real moments that help educate people about these incredible predators while always respecting their boundaries. Shasha-Lee has taught us so much over the years, and at 18 years old, she continues to remind us that every lion deserves to be understood and respected. 🦁 Respect the growl. Respect the lion.
