Another great detail is how hanekawa is symbolic of the sun. She is shown multiple times with a red umbrella from a bird eyes perspective symbolising the Japanese flag(the sun) which is the natural enemy of a vampire. This shows how much of an anchor she is for araragi.

Mono analysis and umi ost is a goated combination. Speaking of Buddhism, I think kizu can also be seen to contradict it in regard to identity. Since Ragi desperately wants to preserve his identity as a human whilst turning into a vamp whereas Buddhism basically encourages letting go of any attachment to fixed identities
