I hold back a lot. My reasons are not quite aligned with this kinda manipulative mindset. I do hold back bc I don’t want competition. I wanna do my work and go home. I also know it’s dangerous to think you know everything about a subject. Honestly there are numerous times where I held back on talking about something I had researched at great length, and surprise! I learned something new. It’s also genuinely a good way to build good working relationships with people. But I’m not plotting. I seriously wanna work, do it well, help others where I can, and try to foster good working relationships. Doesn’t that make work better for everyone?

I borrowed a psychology book from the library because everyone said it would help me understand people. I only finished the first chapter before the librarian quietly walked over, took the book out of my hands, looked me dead in the eyes, and whispered, "It's reading you faster than you're reading it." I haven't been back since, but somehow my library card keeps checking itself out.
