I’ve lived in a town with 15k and two towns with 40k people and they all seemed tiny compared to my hometown in Louisiana with a population of 220k. And guess what? The groceries were 10x better in the small towns (Kailua HI being one of em)

no seriously food deserts are not talked about enough, and I brought it up when I lived in a small town for my husband’s rural medicine rotations and it’s actually crazy how small towns can be considered farm towns but literally have no local food going to any store and the prices of the stores were so inflated. It was actually insane.

This is the kind of woman we need to make famous!! Naturally beautiful INTELLIGENT , non judgmental, KIND! Thank you for sharing! I live in Kentucky and the amount of people that would be so grateful for the “awful” food choices she saw and bought a buggy full of. If we drive 30 mins, we can get to a Walmart that’s our biggest store. The rest of the grocery stores are just like this “simulation” store.

The store she went to was in upstate NY. Many small towns are like this in upstate ny… some even only have dollar general. Not only that but my county doesn’t have a hospital
