My biggest issue is that they daemon doesn’t realize immediately when they fly back to kings landing that this kid has never been on a dragon before. No matter how good the fake daeron was at keeping his mouth shut I feel like it would be impossible to hide if he’d never flown before.

Is it clunky? Tbh, feels very ok to me. We got a whole season of Arya Stark as Tywin Lannister cupbearer, as despite being portraited as a smart and experienced man, he never even suspected. Heck, we actually have a fake Arya plot in the book. The reality is those nobles have no idea how each other kids look like, the swap feels very asoiaf

i just cannot fathom why diverging so much from the books were necessary to the show runners? they haa a perfect storyline that makes sense, all they had to do was fill in the gaps left by the fact the book is told from outside perspectives. that's all. I don't understand why they insisted on making their own jobs harder (because come on, coming up with new story lines is way more difficult than just following the source material) and ending up with a flawed, plot hole ridden show. someone needs to introduce them to ao3 so they can get their fanfiction ideas out of their systems and then come back to make the show properly

Im so glad we agree on this. Most of the flaws people point out in S2 & 3 are well founded but no one seems to acknowledge that almost all of them are symptoms of creative choices that were made in S1 (which makes it all the more baffling that GRRM was okay with them).

every time I think about the rushing through of the timeline in season one I get more and more frustrated, they didn't need to skip so much time but they did for some reason and the characters (and story by extension) suffer for it so bad

The plot point is giving me OG ASOIAF, with Arya being a haircut away from passing as any boy, Sansa becoming Alaynne, Jayne becoming Arya, Faegon. Idk I enjoyed it.

This is so exhausting. Let me ask, in AKOTSK what is Baelor's characters other than he is honourable? Lucerys I'm S1 was characterised as being extremely anxious and feeling unworthy of inherritng Driftmark. Jace is shown constantly wanting to prove himself, with him going to the Vale and the North. Also going to the Twins without Rhaenyra permission. He is also very conscious about being a bastard, that being why he wants to prove himself. They all have small roles and I think they are characterised enough. I don't think you need multiple episodes or seasons to understand their character. Another example is OTD s1 Vaemond got good characterisation with only 1 episode.

what's crazy is that this doesn't even feel like a civil war tbh. I completely forget rhaenyra and Halaena were sisters up into the ending of the latest episode when I thought about it. it's like they're just executing the slow process of the dance "this happened, then that happened" so on and so forth but I just literally don't see them as siblings.

It felt weird but it’s a very asoiaf thing to do, in the books ramsay marries Jeyne Poole and says it’s arya and everyone simply believes it because no one know what arya would look like now.
