Pro dec here, levelling this like he did will 99/100 times sink and then you’ll have the problem of having to fill again, ALWAYS make sure you’ve got a slight rise over the area , then sand. Sanding a product like easy fill isn’t hard at all in fact it’s so easy it’s untrue to sand back.

An orbital sander takes 2-3 seconds with some 240 grit.

as a decorator I can't commend you enough for this video. When you go to a job and the customer tells you "I've filled the holes for you" and theres a pot of B&Q ready mixed filler on the windowsill, my heart sinks

the correct filler does not set rock hard, it's pretty soft, almost like it's designed to be sanded. I agree that you shouldn't chuck excessive amounts on but also it so much worse for you time to have to fill it 3 times because you didn't put enough on

So let's say I have a wall like your example. A wall with a bunch of lumps. Can I use an orbital sander to fix them? Because you're right, sanding takes forever

the problem I have is when I remove a hollow wall fixing, it bulges the plasterboard, so even when I fill the hole with a small amount of filler, there's still a bulge 🤷🏽♀️
