I’ve never done the semen analysis cause we don’t do that in our lab. But the worst thing I’ve seen and smelled has happened twice now. Urine that is literally just one big glob. I can’t do it. When it plops out of the specimen cup I start gagging. The smell is always terrible too and smacks you right in the face.

the worst smell in the lab I ever experienced was an 80 year old patient's urine sample from an infected catheter. you could smell it from 10 feet away even with the lid on. I wasn't even working urinalysis that day, but was called over to run the sample because 2 coworkers were too gagged by the stench to handle the sample.

I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one that feels the exact same way, I used to do them at a clinic cause nobody else could do it either so I would do them all the time and it’s just a smell that I fucking hate now

Absolutely!! Also, our specimens were were super fresh because they were collected in the men’s restroom and passed to the department through a small door in the wall. So creepy. 🤮

I worked in the processing & whoever sent the sample thru the tube system didn’t double check he seal of the cup & I got a whiff when we open the tube up 🤮
