Revolutionary movements in history are bedevilled by infighting. Look at history of big revolutions in France, Russia, Iran, and others. And socially you see the same thing with the civil rights movement. Most of the changes happen early because the target is clear and in group differences are put aside. But inevitably as there are successes, there are groups who want to acknowledge the gains and concessions made and solidify them for the future. And there are groups that feel that any compromise is being complicit with oppression. And this leads to purity testing and infighting. If you’re interested, look at the Jacobin Party during the French Revolution or groups like the Weather Underground during the late 60s and early 70s.

though I agree, a big part of understanding patriarchy is understanding how women and their choices are affected by it as well. hating women is not the answer and unrealistic expectations for women is literally one of the baslines for misogyny, but women can be critiqued.

misogyny has also been a part of our society for like 2 millenia now lol its soo deep rooted and ingrained within our society.. so its gonna a long road but we do have to start somewhere to push back against misogyny, and best time to start pushing back was yesterday.

Yeah, I’ve always hated this mentality like if it can’t be perfect we might as well stay in the same position like are we not aware of how you can’t get better unless you keep trying to get better? I mean, we all say practice makes perfect until apparently it comes to shaping society.

People place these unrealistic higher moral standards to feminists, as they believe the label inherently means you are an all perfect being. However, it’s nuanced, we can’t undo all the harmful ideology so quickly, it’s a life long process that requires time & energy, and even then the current state of society rewards participation, so to an extent some participation is needed e.g. wearing makeup just to be treated with respect by men & woman alike. I simply respect those who label with it, even if it isn’t perfect, because it’s unity that’s needed to fight against the common enemy: right wing white middle class men that uphold multiple systems of oppression like capitalism & patriarchy.

Whenever you hear of a powerful woman in the headlines having been problematic or done something wrong, don’t engage! Cancel culture is now the new tool of the modern patriarchy, and it’s now EXCLUSIVELY used on women with power because the media knows their primarily female fanbases WILL interact and hold them accountable AND they’ll get the misogynists interacting as well. Stop canceling our ONLY feminist lifelines just because they’re not perfect!

ykw? I accept TERFs. I don't agree with them and I think they're horribly wrong about trans women and I wouldn't let one within 10 ft of a trans woman, but they are still feminists. a lot of them started out genuinely caring about women's well-being. maybe that doesn't describe all of them today, but I can accept them without agreeing with them on everything

that's a tall order seeing that there's women/men speakers wanting others to join them by giving up working by having kids while staying home, lose voting rights, and basic human rights based on religious practices or in general, the fear when outside is still around today and does happen world wide
