Severe disconnect from reality. You pay them more then they can get someplace else, or someone else will. It’s basic supply and demand. A top tech can work everywhere, and are extremely rare.

This is bullshit and dealerships are criminals in how they pay and treat their technicians. They charge over $220 hr and pay their technicians maybe $30 hr, sometimes only $25 hr.

This just sounds overly complicated to make it harder to make a decent living as a technician. It’s also how we’ve ended up with sales techs. At the end of the day a technicians job should be to always try and repair first. And don’t tell me that’s a race to the bottom because it’s not.

I went from the tech that can fix anything to being pushed into management. I can barely hen peck through computer stuff yet can diagnose failing parts just by listening. 3 times a week I will just do grounds to calm myself and just see everything on property. Its not being with the lower employee as they aren't lower its teaching time. Something that didn't stand out at sunrise shows up differently later in the day. Filling out work orders is a legal document and We always want to have a conclusion or a reason with a follow up. Back to grounds and another term curb appeal. Who wants to rent from a place that is lined with cigarette butts and weeds. Its a bottom up approach as a top tier we will never look like a government assisted housing property. Sorry I went wild as mentally spinning plates as love what I do.
