@craftycryptcreepers: Nobody warns you that cosplay is sometimes 20% looking cool and 80% figuring out how to stay mostly sweat-free and comfortable long enough to enjoy the convention. A wig grip, makeup setting spray, anti-chafe balm, a lightweight undershirt, and blister protection may not be the glamorous part of cosplay, but they can make the difference between having fun all day and counting down until you can get back to the hotel. Our biggest beginner tip: do not wait until something hurts, slips, rubs, or melts off to fix it. Build comfort into the cosplay from the start. And always pack a tiny emergency kit. Future-you, standing in a convention hallway with a loose strap and sweaty wig, will be very thankful. Save this for your next cosplay or convention day. Huahua :
as someone who's been cosplaying for over a year now, a wig grip is absolutely optional

you can get dress shields as well which are great for costumes, I like to add snap fasteners to them and the costume under the arms for easy removal and washing

Every time I wear a wig grip, I end up with the fattest migraine on planet earth no matter how loose it is 🥹🥹

Also for the girlies and men that wear heels in general, always pack a pair of flats, they have foldable ballet flat you can buy and pack away

A wig grip is entirely optional btw. You can secure a wig to your real hair with hairpins and get great results

Mine is a paper towel to prevent wig headaches, so then I’m not taking Tylenol while at the con

Ultra thin panty liners are also great for attaching to interior pieces of a cosplay for wicking sweat or to put in the armpit of sleeves

not a cosplay tip, but i ALWAYS bring a portable charger + universal cable to cons. its easy to carry around and gives me the peace of mind that all my devices (and my friends) will have enough battery to last the day.

A good fan is non negotiable in summer. I get hot so easily I need one to be clipped to my waist under my outfit

as a sweaty person i hate wig grips. my solution to that are U shaped pins and wig clips.. that wont move even if i do a cartwheel.. and wig grips makes me sweat a lot more

Great tips! I'm in FL, so I'll sometimes use several layers of setting spray to help my makeup beat the humidity. I've also discovered freezer packs that you can strap to your body. I'll mainly put them on the small on my back. You'll get wet with prolonged wear, but I'd rather have a wet back than pass out from heat exhaustion at a summer con.

Is a wig grip really needed if it's a lightweight short wig (for a male cosplay) If I just pin it with some hairpins?

I have some extra tips
drink water and remember to eat food
if you think you smell you probably do
if the con is overcrowded skip a few rows or wait on the ends till the crush is over
bring a friend with you if you're inexperienced they also help with taking pictures

I bring my most comfiest pair of flip flops to a con and tie them to my bag. Absolute lifesavers after agonizing hours in 10cm heels. As soon as I got rid of my mindset of having to look accurate all the time, cons got so much better!!

Depends on the rules of the con but a utility cart is such a life saver! It’s foldable, a lid on top, you can sit on it, and you’re not holding a bunch of bags while wearing your cosplay. Unlike a suitcase, it opens on top so you don’t need to flip it on its side

It’s not an item I refuse to cosplay without but I made a felt wig base (like for helmet wigs) that I slide under heavy wigs, it keeps them from moving (haven’t tried ponytails yet tho) and it isn’t absolutely necessary to wear a wig cap so saves the headache from it too (sometimes hair peek out but it’s manageable)

The revolution Sports fix is both sweat proof and cheap. I have layered it with a cheap setting powder and had my base makeup survive for about 30 hours, including travel, a gig, and sleeping
