Highly recommend looking into a peanut allergy resistance treatment. My nephew had a bad reaction and they worked with an allergist and now he can have PB no problem

My son is allergic to peanuts with anaphalaxis. One thing to look out for is he also had a mild allergic reaction to anything with pea protein often found in like kid protein bars, protein pasta, and harvest snaps so look out for that.

Auvi-Q is similar to an EpiPen, but it talks you through what to do. It’s also more convenient to carry because of its shape. If your insurance will cover them, they’re definitely better option.

“Anaphylaxis” is an allergic reaction where more than one body system is affected. In this case, there was skin involved (hives) and GI involved (vomiting). Potentially respiratory too, if she was having trouble breathing.

My daughter was diagnosed at 6 months with food allergies. She is now 22. Go on https://www.foodallergy.org/ it is an unbelievable resource. Also, a key to knowing when your child is having a food reaction is when 2 or more systems in the body are reacting. In your case it was skin and GI. That is your sign to administer epinephrine. The website will have more info. Im also a very chill mom and that will be your superpower dealing with this and will also help keep your daughter calm. Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

As someone with many allergies, please make sure you teach responsibility as she grows up. My mom did this versus being a helicopter parent about it. It really is a game changer in making sure your child is aware of the risk and can manage it on their own as they get older.

My 7 month old had a reaction to her 3rd exposure to peanuts. It was not anaphylactic tho, her allergy is called FPIES. We did skin testing and blood work to see which specific protein in the peanuts she was allergic to!

That’s usually how allergies develop. Your immune system needs to “learn” what to react to so the 2nd+ time it knows what to react to and shows symptoms. So glad you followed your instincts!!

My son was allergic to nuts, peanuts, sesame, dairy, soy, gluten, corn, oats, fish, shellfish, and eggs since he was a baby. He’s grown out of everything except for nuts, peanuts and sesame. It’s all very scary. We had reaction on the first introduction of peanuts and it wasn’t even more than a few grains of sand worth. Always make sure you have at least two non-expired epi-pens with you at all times. Even if you don’t think you’ll be eating. Kids touch everything and then put their hands in their mouth. Make your friends and family aware of the allergy and make it clear no one feeds your kiddo or gives your kiddo food but you or your husband. (Or whoever you designate as safe). You should establish care with an allergist so you can explore more in the future. Depending on the age we also keep children’s Zyrtec on us now. You’ve got this mama, I’m sorry you had to go through that.

As someone with anaphylactic allergies but not a mom, have as many epi on hand as you can. Keep them with you everywhere. Reactions can move FAST. Start checking ingredients on everything, it will be in things you didn’t suspect.

People don’t know what allergies are. It is literally impossible to have an allergic reaction the first time you’re exposed. Allergies are ALWAYS developed and get worse with each exposure

I have a baby with an anaphylactic nut allergy too. I would look into getting a medical alert bracelet and also work on educating your family. Her last reaction was to trace peanut on furniture at a family members house. Peanut protein can stay on a surface for 100 days unless cleaned (lysol is a highly effective cleaner). Educating yourself and your family is the best way to keep your baby safe. Also the food allergies reddit page is an awesome resource

Thank you for bringing awareness and attention to this. I didn’t know most reactions happen later on in exposure.
