the USA are obsessed with having an MVP. You have just mentioned 1 player from a number of teams. Football is not about the MVP. Its a team game. you need to development a team. Look at England, yes Kane, but Bellingham also, Burn was the best player against Mexico. build a team not an MVP.

I think Americans are to focused on finding stars, I think it's actually the opposite they need to build up their base level and stars will come through eventually. Yes having some ok now to bring fans in is great but the chances of finding a star is very unlikely until the set standard is higher.

football in USA would never thrive unless the sport itself become embedded in the culture... kids growing up playing it on the streets (not fancy expensive clubs)... it wouldn't matter how many "athletes" you throw at the sport, because the sport itself doesn't care much about athletics, it is talent first then athleticism.. and you can't make talents, you discover talents, and you do so by having the sport widely embedded into the culture.

The US, Canada and Mexico as opposed to other countries don’t have a strong regional competition every 2 years. The Gold Cup is easy and it doesn’t prepare you for the world cup. Stars are created regionally first!
