My aunt used to win a lot. She only played AA, AK, AQ, KK, QQ, and JJ. Folded everything else.

And that why it’s $5 buy in with the fam. You best believe I’m riding my suited 8&5 to the river.

There is a distinct difference between playing poker for fun and playing to maximize profit. Memorizing the odds tables to the point that you can play by the book is some work and will help you win but it also removes the enjoyment from the game entirely, at least in my opinion

I placed 70th in WSOP locally by basically folding 90% of hands. Get in good when you have it. Fold and live another hand

My friends hate playing Hold ‘Em with me. They say I’m way too patient. I can fold all day long and then when I do play a hand, they “assume” I have a good hand. Not always the case.

it really depends on position. if you are early position your range is very tight. in later positions you can open up ur range a bit.

Patience is the game. knowing when to fold is one thing. But you need to be watching the game. You need to be watching every bet every call every 3 bet and every showdown to know whos bluffing and what spots theyre bluffing in or if theyre bluffing on a draw so you can bully them later when possible

It’s all about stats. Sure, you can win a hand with “bad cards” when the flop turns out great. But in the long run, you’ll lose more than you win. This way, they preserve their chips and only play the cards that gives them a statistical advantage. I’m often bored, so I play every flop. At least that way you can’t tell if I’m bluffing either.

if you are really good you fold way way more. walking away from hands lossing zero dollars is the goal. ask yourself. if you folded every single hand would you have last longer than how you just played

It’s poker, only so many cards, once you start reading players cards you fold more often, play YOUR game not someone else’s

Typically blinds go up faster than in home games so there’s no money to waste on subpar hands trying to catch cards. They want their money in when they’re strong.

also you gotta bet once in awhile with junk or you'll be known as a tight player and won't get any action when you have good cards
