✞ :
I respectfully disagree. If you truly love someone, you don’t willingly choose actions that you know will deeply hurt them. Love is more than a feeling it is consideration. It is choosing to protect the person you love, even when you are tempted not to. When that consideration disappears selfishness takes its place, and that is where a lack of discipline begins. Cheating is rarely an accident. It is a series of choices where someone places their own desires, satisfaction, validation, or temporary pleasure above the emotional well being of the person they claim to love. At that moment, they are no longer acting out of love but out of self interest. This has nothing to do with entitlement, so let leave that aside. Love is much deeper than simply saying, I love you Love is reflected in the choices you make when no one is watching. I agree that love alone does not sustain a relationship or marriage. Trust, commitment, respect, loyalty, and self control are equally important. But those qualities exist because of love, not apart from it. If you truly value someone, you naturally consider how your actions will affect them. People often say someone can cheat and still love their partner. I do not believe that. Someone may still care about their partner, may still want the relationship or may choose to stay because of the life they have built together. But in the moment they knowingly betray that person trust, they have set love aside and chosen themselves instead. That is why infidelity is one of the deepest betrayals in a relationship. It is not just about sex it is about breaking trust, disregarding your partner’s feelings, and placing your own desires above the commitment you made. Forgiveness is possible, but it doesn’t erase what happened. Trust has to be rebuilt and only when trust is restored can love truly begin to flourish again.
