@lacunapsychology: A “favourite person” isn’t part of the diagnostic criteria for BPD, and not everyone with BPD experiences it. But many people in the community use the term to describe an attachment that can feel incredibly intense and emotionally consuming. This video is about that lived experience—not everyone with BPD, and not a substitute for professional assessment or diagnosis. What’s one thing you wish people understood about having a favourite person? #bpd #borderlinepersonalitydisorder #eupd #MentalHealth #psychology
that I'm not just clingy.. you can breathe, just not without me. 😳

the hardest part in my experience is if he even says something that I might misinterpret, or even sounds like his tone has changed negatively, I can feel my whole stomach drop and my heart palpitates.. I feel like I can't breathe and my eyes pour uncontrollably. such a small thing can throw me sideways. I have many days like this when I shouldn't. i don't know how else to explain the feeling of abandonment, but I'm so terrified

It’s so exhausting, I feel like I literally don’t exist without them like I’m here physically but I don’t know who I am or what I’m meant to do with my life it’s scary knowing that without them I’m lost

the hardest part is when everything is over with your favorite person and you already deal with the depersonalization/derealization and you keep replying it over and over finding any tiny thing you could have done differently and realizing that your efforts to keep them there with you are exactly what drove them away. it's feeling like all you want is to be loved and understood but once you are you don't trust that it's real no matter how hard someone tries to prove it, and that's exhausting for both parties. it's feeling like any ounce of love you get is just going to be a flicker of light and then it will go back to dark. it's trying to protect yourself with recognizing patterns and overlooking the slightest changes at all times, switching very very good emotions to extremely bad and usually scary emotions in a matter of seconds because of a single thought, word, or action. for me personally it was having no proper support even in my therapists office and having to research myself like I was some sort of infection I had to get rid of, and realizing that I am the only person I can genuinely trust, and that even though I can only trust myself, I can't even actually trust myself because of all the self sabotage or immediate reactions to something that seems smaller later.

You get told you’re too clingy and you need to chill and you don’t want them to have any other friends and if they do it feels like betrayal

Having my fp close by while thinking “when will be the day he gets tired of me and leaves!?” While I also create the chaos for him to leave me!! Im recognizing my behavior more and more everyday. Im learning. It’s not easy but it is manageable, especially with his help!!!!

Hardest part for me is hiding my feelings, not showing they are my favourite person, but screaming on the inside, not wanting to bother them incase I’m to much even though they say I won’t be, it causes me a lot of physical pain and I’m always exhausted 😩 on the inside I’m going crazy but on the outside I’m doing everything to stay calm

btw we don’t WANT to feel like this. oftentimes for me i feel a sense of shame like how am i allowing myself to become so emotionally dependent on someone that a simple “hey” in the wrong tone will ruin my day

the scariest part for me is being terrified to tell someone "hey I can't handle my emotions by myself I need your help" bc it'll scare them away

It’s a living hell.. but in the beginning the feeling is like no other..then the fear of abandonment sets in and that fear alone affects your entire life.

The hardest part it’s how much this feels like “love” but it’s trauma bonding. The hardest part is how you feel you can’t breath without them.

She did leave. But nobody understands what it’s like with me. I put a lot on her because my mental health is a lot. Not because I mean to be too much. It’s hard to find balance. Understanding is crucial for me. I don’t have a lot of people who can understand me.

The hardest part for me is when I see them “close” to someone else and they give them the same “attention” they give me to that person. It makes me spiral and break down or sometimes causes me to have panic attacks so I have to leave the situation so I can breathe but right when they give me the attention I don’t want it because I feel like it was used up or used on someone else that was supposed to be me
