My 30 yo child is currently in nursing school. She has struggled her whole adult life financially. It’s hard to watch for sure. She’s going to be coming out the other side I hope when she gets a nursing job but I have been so stressed over her again and again. As a parent we want to fix their problems but there is no lesson learned for her by me trying to fix everything. My hope is that when she graduates she gets it together.

I have offered my 20 yo son, 2 years paid college tuition, books, free housing, food, car ins., cell phone, gas, utilities, not to mention anything he reasonably requests for those 2 years to become a surgical tech making $47/hr..he has chosen to move and go to college 2 hours away w/ his friends to pay for all himself. Not to mention he will then have to work and attend school to become a surgeon. We DO NOT have med school money $90,000/yr and, if we did, he doesn't want to tell us his grades. We have explained that this is unreasonable and unaffordable. We are taking bets on how long this will last and how much debt damage this will cause. It's heartbreaking to think he could be debt free in 2 yrs making good money.

My daughter hated her job and quit without having another one. Now I’m anxious about how she’s going to pay her rent and she has reached out to me to help her groceries. She’s very resourceful and usually lands on her feet, but I do wish she would’ve waited until she had another job and I’m worried.

My son is 18 and I’m stepping back and letting him make decisions even if I don’t agree. He lives in my house and has declined college. So he is working. This is the hardest thing I have ever done.

So true.., the relationship changes when they are grown. I had to take a step back it’s very difficult when you’ve told them what to do their whole life and suddenly the decisions are all on them.
