BUT. If your contract is a rolling periodic tenancy ALREADY, your 1 month notice still stands. My landlord was trying to trap me into 2 months but my old contract was already rolling so my old notice still stood!

the next part of the rule says that you can negotiate a shorter notice with tbe landlord if both parties are willing to but most wont be as the law is new (or any other excuse 😭)

Check your tenancy agreement. Those rules are just the legal minimum so you may have better terms.
