Great for a mid-back release. Today I’m working the serratus posterior inferior — a hidden driver of mid-back tightness. It originates from the spinous processes of T11–L2 and attaches into ribs 9–12. To shorten it, I have the client extend the spine and slightly elevate/externally rotate the lower ribs. Taking a deep breath in and holding it shortens the muscle even more — perfect for locking into those adhesions. As I reach the end range, I cue them to slowly release the breath, which naturally lengthens the muscle and lets the fascia soften. Its job is controlling rib movement and stabilizing the posterior chain, which is why restrictions here can mimic chronic mid-back or low thoracic tightness. I pin, shorten → lengthen, and follow the diagonal fibers until the tissue melts. #massagetherapy #midbackpain #massage #bodywork #fyp
