Way too conservative. But that’s an incredible ISA bridge around.

In real world this won’t happen tho. I’m 31, 200k pension, 213k in ISAs. Based on his logic I’d be able to retire at like 40

It’s amazing the number of people here thinking holiday abroad is a necessary element of a quality life. £2,250 a month without a mortgage repayment and commuting cost is a decent income. By the way, you can still travel abroad on that income if that’s your thing.

I just don't think early retirement is a consideration, unless you're going to do something truly special... my grandparents did it around 60, moved to Spain, had 15 amazing years, but then returned to England and deteriorated pretty fast. Why not find a job you enjoy or you can do abroad, because to retire at 50, unless you're travelling, you're going to get so bored.

I have naff all pension, like £62k or something, I’m 46. I have a house worth £950,000 with £50k mortgage. I have £350,000 in savings in my bank account, I’m thinking of buying another property to let out. I’m not particularly financially savvy in regards to mortgages, pensions, isa etc. any suggestions? P.s aged 34 I left the UK and decided to work overseas for 10 years years just to have new experiences with the wife and kids, hence not much of a pension. I don’t earn a high salary, £45K and no company pension except whatever the compulsory pension is.

more inportant is a health plan. How much have you invested in that to find out whether or not you will make it to 57 in good enough health to truly enjoy it.

So he earns enough to build up £540k ISA and at the same time put enough into his private pension for it to be worth £700k??? What job does he do to earn enough to do both of these???

How do you know you’re living until 50/57? Life needs to be lived in the moment as well as saving

I mean it’s great, but doesn’t leave you much money to enjoy life. Suppose that’s subjective if you’re happy just staying at home all day and not holiday etc

Why aim to get by on £27k a year when you’re younger and have your health in order to protect an income of £40-£50k when you’re older if you’re not used to that income. Enjoy a but more while you’re younger and have your health

“Will you run the isa bridge to zero” is the biggest statement here. It’s to much as a “bridge” to your pension. He’s clearly using the ISA as an additional pension. Anyway, just saying because maths.

Surely everyone is different, some people will need and be used to £2k a month some will aim for £4k a month….

Age 57, passed all those milestones but the challenge now is not financial. it's figuring out what will fill your time after work. Relaxing and holidays don't cut the mustard.

What’s an ISA bridge??? Assume taking money from his ISA accounts to live off until his pension kicks in? Or have I assumed wrong
