Resident Evil 7 and 8. It turned out Ethan Winters died early into the game, and had become the mold. The reason why he didnt fall to evelynn, is because she was destroyed before she could fully gain control of him. This is revealed in 8, but even in 7 there were hints.

I don’t think that’s the answer. I’m sure when you beat the final boss in. He takes the nuke and drops it in the middle of the ocean. I think that’s when he died and now in prototype,2 he’s no longer him. It’s the virus.
