@socialcap: I know you love your loyalty card. But just like an employer/employee relationship, you might be loyal to them…they’re not exactly returning the favor. #money #wealth #finance #tyler
Why not keep that old credit card and not use it so you keep your credit age going?

no, wrong about the first cc!!!!!! length of credit history is 30% of your credit score!!!! I went to cancel my oldest card, and the CSR advised me not to. we had another, newer, card with the same bank. she said, I'll disable the older card, don't use it, but never cancel it. best decision I ever made. 845 credit score.

Tyler, I’ve always been told to never cancel a credit card because it’s bad for your credit, is this true?

I keep all my cards, even the crappy ones, because it leaves me with higher total available credit. And I don’t carry balances on any of them.

I never hold balances on any card. They get paid off before any interest accrues. I get all the points and savings without any cost. The only card I pay for are airline cards that I use frequently because our daughter lives in China and the rewards are totally worth the price.
