Thank you for saying this! I have lupus. Sjögren’s and pots! I have been told several times that I must have done something to have deserved this. Mind you I worked in health care for over 15 years. It’s called trauma. Stress and genetics.

As a fellow spiritual woo woo who has struggled with mysterious chronic debilitating migraines since I was a child…thank you. I have never ever been able to correlate them with a spiritual meaning, they are physical and just plain chronic and I very recently found out why I get them. No amount of reiki, meditation, energetic healing, praying has helped them, or “trying to channel the migraine” because it could be a download. Cause of migraines: my 1st vertebrae is misaligned, my bone is out of place. The only spiritual growth this gave me was to love, advocate for those with chronic pain/ disabled and accept that chronic pain/ disability is in fact just a fact- some of us are just born with these things.

in a similar vein, when ppl will comment on things about kids with autism and/or ADHD and they say "we cut out gluten and red dye and blah blah blah and my child is better now!" now, im not saying cutting things like red dye or gluten or whatever can't help, but to say that to a parent as if autism or adhd is something that can be "cured" by a simple diet change or a holistic remedy is absolutely infuriating and gross imo. I'm all for holistic approaches PAIRED WITH evidence based practices and science.
