When a Black teenager Nolan Xavier Wells goes missing on a boat trip after being left behind by his friends the internet's first instinct is to interrogate the victim and this is solely due to Nolan being black and his friends being white. But when a mob of thousands of white teenagers swarms Newport beach, assaults police, and loots a grocery store, the narrative shifts to "kids being rowdy." They love to attribute the difference in behavior to “ghetto black culture”but that’s a deflection from the reality. It's a difference in who America decides deserves the presumption of innocence.
