The saddest part about this is whoever did this to Nolan will be protected by the broken system. Especially that one of his “friends” mom is a Judge. I feel heartbroken broken for the family, the road to justice (if there’s any) will be long and hard. I pray for their strength and tenacity.

The case of Marly Kinney is identical to this. Happened not even a month ago and it barely got any recognition. Didn't get any recognition because there is not narrative to spin. She was a white teenage girl. Went on a boat with friends, was left behind and they said they didn't notice. She was found dead in the water days later.

Those of us who are not Black should stop telling Black people how to interpret this situation. We all watched the video of a young Black child being pressured by his friends to get into the water after clearly saying he could not swim. We also saw that it was another family who stepped in to save him, and it was all captured on camera. These events are why many Black parents and communities express concerns about their children’s safety. Rather than dismissing those concerns or telling them how they should feel, we should listen, reflect, and take them seriously.
