Why does it have to be a feeder league? Best USMNT player ever (Donovan) was an MLS lifer. These players need to know what it's like to lead a team. That's what made Donovan so great. He was always the leader of his team, even when Beckham was his teammate. Being a "top 5 league" player is cool, but everybody is just a role player, not a leader or someone whom the squad is built around.

we should embrace being a feeder league. it would actually do better for us than trying to force the MLS to compete with the top leagues. it won't work here. we have 5/6 pro leagues that will always be ahead of MLS but if we embrace being a feeder league and a path to top dollar elsewhere we will get more athletes choosing the sport and give more a chance for a shot over there in general

The MLS next being a connection between the academies and the first teams in MLS is going to bust open the talent pipeline in the United States..... if Peyton Miller doesn't end up in Europe. soon I'm going to scream. He's 18, already has 48 games in MLS..... But I also know the revs have 10 or 12 children under contract who are floating between the first team and the MLS next team. 17 year old Mathis Albert was in the LA Galaxy academy before getting picked up by Dortmund.

i agree - we can re-evaluate in 10 years, but right now anyone with promise from 15/16 on need to be moved to europe as soon as possible

MLS doesn’t look at the bigger picture they are so stuck in the “I want to make money now” instead of sending these kids off for a price now, and then using the money to discover more talent or develop more talent locally so they can sell them for even more. Idk why they just don’t realize yeah they are gonna lose out on a lot of money for some of these players but it will make the next generations better which will also inturn make them more money.
