I’m in a data analyst (kind of) role so feel I’m one foot in, one foot out. Best plan to go all in and leverage my existing job role?

switch out tableau for power BI and I'll agree with you. only 25% of the jobs I applied to used tableau.

IT Support Analyst and I personally think certs can help open doors for people, especially when completely changing careers, if you get the right ones related to what youre actually trying to accomplish. I think Comptia A+ is good reading material and the first certs that show promise are beyond that. Security+, Network+, CCNA and anything beyond can definitely help you get some momentum. I agree that there are other factors: getting into any related position, learning on the job and proving you're teachable, being good to work with, self motivated and dependable, good problem solving skills... hell, a little bit of luck and timing...those are equally as important. It all depends on prior experience, the field you are trying to get into, and the opportunities available locally or where you're willing to relocate.

Quick question. How good does government work and published research look to recruiters in data analytics? For example, a federal reserve RA with an article publication and a co-authorship on a published economic research paper

Can you explain a bit more about what should be considered into a portfolio? I have a lot of of the skills, but can’t find ways to show it to get interviews

Data scientist here and I 100% agree. Certifications are not important at all. Only your skills matter which you must demonstrate through projects that you can explain well

Yeah it really depends on your career path. Certs matter for Helpdesk/infrastructure roles.

Certs haven’t been a thing since 2010. Microsoft got rid of most of their certs.

After you get SQL down, you absolutely need to tackle python. Specifically pandas, but polars is a fine option too. No need to be an expert, just know enough to be dangerous.
