@Gmoney6: 2 things here: First, MANY airlines have really awful customer service. So this is not a surprise that they screwed you over. Second but most importantly, pretty much every airline closes their doors 15 minutes before departure. It does seem like you’ve been not in this position before, but definitely be at the flight gate between 35-45 minutes before departure. It happens to us all.

Sorry this happened to you. But North American airlines and many European airlines are terrible when it comes to customer service—having said that, as a rule of thumb, be at the gate at least 30 min before departure. I can assure you that if you were on an Air Canada flight, you would have the same experience. Most flights stop boarding 30 min prior to the flight.

@Michelle: Flight attendant here… I can tell you that we close flights 15 minutes before departure time so every airline would deny boarding, not just us. My apologies that they didn’t explain this to you kindly and that afterwards you got terrible service. 😔

Pick either Air Canada or Porter. And ride or die with them. Credit Cards. Points program. Once you get status you get direct contacts to ppl. They all have issues. Who can solve your problems the fastest.

I can’t tell if this is a joke or not. Have you been on a plane before? Did you not notice a boarding time on your ticket. Also confused on your story, people were walking on and the door was closed at the same time?

Sorry but not on them. You're notified when you book and check in the night before when you board and when to be there. Did you not go to the airport until 30 mins before? How did they even allow you to check your bag?

I'm so sorry beautiful but that is most airline policies and procedures. I fly for United and you they do close the door 15 minutes prior to departure unfortunately that's what it is and then when you have to rebook you do have to pay a rebooking fee for every airline yes it sucks but just try to be at the gate on time, sis.😍

West jet boards 40 mins before the flight takes off. You always have to be there at that time because if they finish boarding early they will close the door early.
