Sitka Fine Arts camp is 2 weeks and $2k-ish. It’s in Sitka, Alaska. Everyone has to fly in. Expensive af but every kid has said it’s 100% worth it.

I grew up 10 minutes from Raquette Lake Camps & wanted to go soooo bad. My mom told me I live in the woods I can go do arts and crafts on my dock for free instead 🙄

I was a counselor for a middle class horse camp for a bit. Truly a cheaper camp for a horse camp. We had one girl that would live there the entire summer multiple years in a row. it was honestly really sad, it was very clear her wealthy parents dropped her there when school ended and forgot her. she became part of the camp family but it was rough bc they were basically parenting this kid for 3 months of the year.

Me and all my sisters went to raquette lake for 7-8 years. It was a really special place, you had the freedom to be so WEIRD and dorky with other girls for 7 weeks straight without any outside pressures

My daughter is currently at sleep away camp at $1k per week and I thought that was expensive 🤯. Shes only going for a week and loves it so much so guess that’s part of my budget now 🙃

My great grandfather founded Camp Canadensis in 1941 in the Poconos of PA. Cost is $14.5k for the seven week program these days. It has families from the tri-state area mostly

Dare I say if I had wealth but not insane wealth I would invest in a good summer camp and work with a magnet school and tack on private tutors . The character building and fun of childhood camps just seems like it’s worth investing in now that so much school is automated and online. Yes prestige in some private school helps but I’d rather my kid have fun and make friends and memories not just fight education systems
