I have mentioned many times the limitations of my knowledge of MAG, particularly aside from any event other than vault or floor. So while I am not able to objectively say anybody was robbed in the parallel bars final at the 1993 Worlds in Birmingham, it certainly *feels* like it. Valeriy Belenkiy, basically stateless after the dissolution of the Soviet Union and competing here under the United Nations Association, for me had the best or second best routine in the final. That Korobchinskiy placed ahead of him seems bizarre and wrong to me. But I know there are MAG experts who watch these videos, and hopefully they will chime in. Korobchinskiy had one of the shorter routines, and it's not like his dismount had perfect form and was stuck cold. Ijdgi. What is a little less controversial is King Vitaliy Shcherbo consolidating his Olympic parallel bars gold with a World title. The only questionable thing for me is that he didn't stick his dismount... but then again Belenkiy didn't either. Shcherbo's first back toss wasn't perfect either, but perhaps that's being nitpicky. I just really enjoyed Belenkiy's routine. Valeriy would receive German citizenship the following year, and I believe that is where he has lived and coached until this very day. I love his line on p-bars, the Healy turns, and the hop just takes it over the edge for me. It is such a stylish routine. But perhaps he opened himself up to more deductions with a longer exercise than Igor. 1996 Olympic champion Rustam Sharipov also showed a very strong exercise to finish fourth. I also really enjoy his work. And I think he gets the award for best dressed of the final (unsure what the men's outfit for rings, parallel bars, and high bar is called). I love that this entire final consisted of former Soviets with the exception of Huang Huadong. Talk about a dream line-up! 😍 I was unfamiliar with Andrey Kan, but I love his double full flyaway! It's probably not rated very highly, but it is so pretty. Thanks to gymnasticsstuff on YouTube as always for uploading the footage I used to make this. #gymnastics #gymnasticsvideos #mensgymnastics #parallelbars
