@tracicox2: I am, not surprisingly, over complicating this. I’m just gonna glue them on the mesh. Also my tile samples came in. #DIY #bathroom #vintage #renovation #tiles
I think you should just tile them individually in the floor, it will be faster and you won’t have as many steps to do, would also return that mesh and get your money back

Absolutely perfect theory I did this for my bathroom and my old house and it worked perfectly. I cannot remember the adhesive that I used, but they make an adhesive specifically for that. Go to the tile place and ask them for mesh adhesive glue for tile tiles.

I like your makeshift spacer template!! I think you are onto something here. I recommend E6000 glue over weld bond, personally. The weld bond didn’t hold super great onto the mesh 🫠. Hot glue is a no bc it doesn’t dry flat. Silicone mats work great if you go the E6000 glue route. Lay the silicone mat over the tile backs glued to the mesh then flip your template over so it can dry with the tiles laying on the mat? Or just lay the mat first, then mesh, then glue and tile spacer each one like a crazy lady I might know 🤪

But hear me out… doing this way… aren’t you already individually tiling them just in a different place…

The jig you made is great! I would consider using the clear face tape method instead of the mesh backing. You can see your pattern before securing and it may be easier for setting the tile as sometimes the mesh backing can contort

Considering there were missing tiles from the beginning I would have used larger spacers.

have you counted how many you have for each color so you have an even distribution of color?
