Her attorneys filed a postconviction petition arguing her trial lawyers failed to investigate a medical condition called POTS — Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome — which they claim could have caused her to lose consciousness before the crash. But her lawyers missed the filing deadline by one day because they forgot 2024 was a leap year. Every court refused to let that slide. The trial court threw it out. The Eighth District Court of Appeals agreed. And on June 23rd 2026 the Ohio Supreme Court declined to hear the case — leaving her conviction fully intact. She has racked up 36 prison conduct reports in nearly three years behind bars. She now works in the prison kitchen as a food service worker. Her first parole hearing is not until 2037. Mackenzie Shirilla case is eerily similar to another out of Florida; Daniel Waterman and Leigha mumby. It’s alleged that Leigha mumby intentionally crashed herself and Daniel (who was a passenger) while she was pregnant with his baby. She drove straight off the highway into the tree line off the highway, no other vehicle or people were involved. She told the cops she “doesn’t remember” what happened. Daniel lived long enough to give his statement to the police (while Leigha claims she doesn’t remember) and now the court is claiming it cannot be used in the trial. Please help us speak for Daniel because he no longer can

I have listened to every podcast interview, rundown, etc., about this case and this girl. She is a fucking sociopath, and her parents are even worse. This entire situation should not have happened. The fact that they can’t at least humble themselves and consider the possibility that they are actually insane as the entire world is telling so is beyond me.
