How long do you usually see progress in toddlers who participate in speech therapy? My fresh two year old just started a few weeks ago and I feel so helpless 😭

My son is 19mo only says “mum,dad” and LOTS of animal sounds. He doesn’t use words for anything else. Just babbles but he knows almost everythingg I ask him. He points to things I say and follows instructions. Should I be concerned?

I always tell parents they have to wait until it feels like an "awkward silence" otherwise it probably wasn't long enough hahaha

So i do all these things and my child is still not speaking. He rarely tries to speak in any of these instances. We have the state coming to evaluate him. His receptive language is great but not understanding why his expressive language is so behind!

My son right now just copies word for word. Can label anything, animals letters numbers ppl but when trying to have a conversation he just repeats word for word.

Please interact with your child! Conversation is HUGE in development. Don’t raise iPad babies. Way too much screen time and data profile farming.

And when you ask if they want juice or milk, it gives them a chance to make a choice. A child who gets to make choices is more confident and capable.

@Alex: My two year old knows all her colors can count to 10 knows all her abc’s even phonetic sounds knows basic shapes knows entire twinkle song now teaching Spanish

My son just WONT. I’ll sit in silence and wait for him to complete the ONE word sentence and he looks at me like I’m stupid 😂 he’ll say the word I want him to randomly, but never in a sentence or song

This was helpful. I noticed my daughter shuts down when I “test” her. I struggle with the fun sounds and words thing. It seems so unnatural to me

my 2 yr old grandson knows numbers to 20 counts that and backwards knows planets,colors shapes even octagon hexagon, reads sightwords, letters sounds so much! he Amazes me. he turned 2 in june

A good way to game-ify number recognition for toddlers is playing simple card games like UNO, go fish, or even poker (just use ace/one through ten to start).

Love this! I always say use the least amount of words like “_____ or _____” or try to use 1-2 word phrases in the beginning for an increase in repetition of core words!

been binge watching your vids some super good advice in here!! my son knows a lot of words and has great understanding but he hums almost all of his words instead of speaking, is there any way to encourage opening his mouth and trying out sounds?? ive asked my speech and she said mirror play but he's just totally uninterested and it's really hard to find resources on this 😭
