I’m maxing out both at 22. Also paying down my student loans currently only have 5k left out of 22k. It sucks being financially responsible I have the same amount of money I do now as I did when I was working as a cashier. I don’t see 95 percent of what I’m earning cuz it goes to my investments or debt 😅

You are putting all of that money away until your 65. Why do not have a brokerage account so that money is not tied up.

Factor in that this doesn’t include any employer contributions

Don’t do this unless it’s casual money for you. You become less financially powerful when you don’t have liquidity. I’d rather pay 25% tax and retain full executorship over my money over the next 40yrs than skip the tax and relinquish it to the banking system to play with

If you consider inflation that’s less than $4mil in today’s dollars. About 3.8m. Still great but good for perspective

First you should contribute enough to your 401k to get the full employer match. Then if you’re eligible, max your HSA and invest it as your using the shoebox method. Then you should max your Roth IRA. Then you would max the rest of your 401k

Hoping I can make enough as an engineer to max 401k, Roth, and have extra to dump in a brokerage for more liquidity. Will probably just be pumping all into VOO SPY SCHG and the international market etf forgot the ticker. What are your thoughts on a profile such as that respective to each the Roth 401k and a brokerage?

Prefer brokerage so I don’t have to wait until 65, planning on doing 15k a year and retiring at 57
