Maybe the leader got stuck in one of the upper eyelets and caused too much tension in that area when the rod flexed? I was taught to never reel in the leader into any of the eyelets. Kinda tricky to land the fish this way but I use 7.5 ft leader’s which is more manageable than 9 ft! Also a long handled net has helped too

also always hold the rod more straight out to transfer the pull to the reel and just lift above your head, fly rods have different physics than spinner rods so the way you are holding it in the video will break more rods.

If you happen to foul hook them they sometimes can fight a little harder. Not sure if that could be part of it…

You likely pulled rod back behind your head —like a 2:00 position on clock. That angle will snap a rod really fast even with hardly any weight. If you never take it past 12:00 position that rod will almost bend in half without breaking

To snap a rod on a small fish, there was either a defect with the graphite or perhaps slight damage to the rod that created a weak point

i’ve bent a rod like this and it still didn’t break so i’d say that’s a quality control issue

if you are fishing beaded nymphs you might have hit your rod with it causing a weak spot.

Never show the fish the butt of your rod

They can bend almost in half if fighting a fish. If the reddington broke from that fish, chances are that it was either defective or had some sort of interior damage to the rod.

Depends on the weight. The clip shown is about ideal

Also sometimes companies just sell that individual rod piece you need rather than buying a whole new rod, unless you are scarred from reddington haha
