I’d say so. My Spanish accent turned Canarian after many years of living on Gran Canaria. I still use Ustedes and guagua seems perfectly natural for me to use, I can’t go back to saying autobús! 😂

For me it was enough to move from Devon to near Manchester and over the years I picked up Manchester accent. My British husband was pulling his hair out as he’s proper West Country boy 😅

I am fully English but lived in Tenerife for a while then when I speak English with Canarian people I speak with an accent as if I was Spanish 😂😂

Tip: Embrace it as something far more unique. I raised my kids in Malaga, but we’re from New Jersey… the accent they’re confused by, the culture as well. I told them to enjoy their uniqueness…

Happens to me too. I’m native British and people can never guess because I keep changing my accent without knowing. And learning Spanish has changed my English accent too. But it’s also why my Spanish accent is fairly good

me pasa siempre😅 soy italiana y si tú me pones en culaquier región de Italia empiezo en hablar con el mismo accento de ellos😅 aprendí español con la televisión, vivo en Canarias hace 10 años y cuando voy en la península me dicen que hablo español con la cantaleta Canaria (que no sé qué significa pero bueno es lo que me dicen😂😂). Se me pegan las formas de hablar que tengo cerca.

all the time. for some context I am UK born with roots in Spain and Colombia. I grew up with a lot of Ecuadorians and Peruvians and ended up sounding like that. my accent was already a mix of Madrid Malagá and Cali lol.
