@meghannmcuniff: The judge in the preliminary hearing in the capital murder case against Charlie Kirk's alleged killer saw surveillance video on Tuesday (July 7) of suspect Tyler Robinson on campus before and after Kirk was shot on Sept. 10, 2025. The university campus where Charlie Kirk was shot last year is equipped with surveillance cameras that investigators used to track the movements of suspected gunman Tyler Robinson. The judge in the preliminary hearing in Robinson's capital murder case saw the videos today (Tuesday, July 7) during testimony from David Hull, an agent with the Utah Department of Public Safety. Judge Tony Graf allowed the videos to be shown in open court and recorded by the cameraman after hearing argument from Prosecutor David Sturgill, defense lawyer Kathy Nester and a lawyer for news organizations. This clip begins with Hull saying video showed Robinson going to a Chick-fil-A restaurant in the Utah Valley University's Sorensen building, where he purchased food, then sat and ate it. "From there, he moves across campus, out across campus drive into a wooded area on what would be kind of the northeast side of campus drive, then returns back onto campus. We noticed at this point he's no longer carrying the backpack that he was originally wearing," Hull testified. "He moves through the Gunther building and the computer science building ...then goes across to the railing that gives access to the roof of the Losee building." Prosecutors allege Robinson fired the shot that killed Kirk from the roof of the Losee building. Later, there "is a video of Mr. Robinson returning back to campus the same way that he did previously on foot." "And why do you believe it's Mr. Robinson?" asked Surgill, who's the section chief of the SpecialVictims Unit in the Utah County Attorney’s Office. "The shoes are the same, and the images that we have from my viewing and seeing Mr. Robinson on the video, it's the same person," Hull said. Robinson "is wearing different clothing, and he also is walking with a gate or a limp in this video," Hull said. #law #court #crime
