@abcnews: Scientists have captured what they say is rare video footage of a great white shark in the waters off the coast of Rhode Island. While great whites aren't uncommon in the waters of the Northeast, they mostly congregate around Cape Cod. But late last month, marine researchers began getting reports of a dead 40-foot humpback whale floating near Block Island, about 13 miles off the southern coast of mainland Rhode Island. Marine researchers told ABC News, when they finally found the whale, they saw something unusual for the area: an 8-foot juvenile white shark feeding on the carcass.
