WHY IS NVDA FLAT AFTER AMAZING EARNINGS? 👇 📉Magnitude of their beats are shrinking. Expectations are higher, and growth is slowing (even though it’s still objectively tremendous). Showing up with a $2b surprise revenue beat when making $10b is a lot more impactful then $1b beat on $90b. 📝Forecasting the multiple range that algos have assigned Nvda show that the pre-earnings rally hit the approximate trading range of NVDA for the past ~6-12 months. Forward multiples have ranged from ~20-30x, with the more recent months trending towards the lower end. 🧰Nvidia is ultimately a hardware business and the buildout cannot remain explosively high forever. I do think as future technologies continue to develop, the semiconductor space will have much higher troughs when we go through the business cycle, but I’m certainly in the camp that demand will continue to remain elevated. 🔎I grabbed their past quarters and next quarter’s guidance to project their forward earnings multiple. I use simplistic assumptions that are probably conservative considering NVDA’s own guidance - but I’d rather be safer than sorry. In my assumptions, they’re still trading near a 24x forward earnings multiple as they show some signs of deceleration - and I believe this is Wall Street pricing this in along with our current macroeconomic backdrop. 💸That being said, I am not currently adding as I have immense exposure to Semiconductors and I would like to have a larger margin of safety. I am not a trader (though i do dabble in speculating). My primary focus is long term investing, and ideally buying stocks I can hold for decades. #investing #stockmarket #nvidiaearnings
