had a coworker who had a rule...when they were interrupted twice while trying to say something they stopped the topic completely and would not continue. It was so liberating to watch the interrupters constantly asking him "no, please continue, I'm sorry". He would just state that they showed him multiple times they weren't interested in what he had to say so he was no longer interested in sharing. I have since adopted this as well.

I just stopped talking mid-sentence in HS once I realized nobody cared. A really sweet guy at my table noticed and asked me to continue. I just responded that it wasn’t important. 8 years later I still appreciate that he said something

This used to happen to me a lot at one of my old jobs, the worst was when people would walk away while I’m mid sentence or start going on their phones so I stopped trying and became the listener and nobody seemed to care then either.
