Higher temperatures lead to more evaporation from the soil and transportation through the leafs, plants consume the same amount of water but they use more water when it's hot. It's like if you went to universal and you had a bottle of water to drink but you also had one of those mister fans that sprays you with water, you would use more water than if you went during the fall and only need the drinking water to hydrate

Hey so think about it this way: a lot of our plants come from the tropics where there’s just wet & dry season. Dry season would be like our winter and wet season our summer. They have far less growth in the dry season and some, like alocasias, go dormant during this time. Plants also depend on the light cycle to determine how productive they are. Shorter days = less production and longer days = more production. Summer brings longer days which lengthens the production period from maybe 8 hrs to 12hrs which in turn requires more water as well. This may be way too much info or not what you were looking for at all but I hope it helps!
