Every day/night, I was dreading brushing her teeth & I also didn’t like that my toddler was forming such a negative association with a daily task she will need to do for the rest of her life…so I decided to try pretend play instead! Toddlers LOVE pretend play and it is your secret weapon for cooperation! As someone who uses play all the time to help my kids listen, idk why it took me so long to do this with teeth brushing. As soon as I had my toddler’s stuffy talk to her & “help” brush her teeth, she immediately cooperated, and now teeth brushing is such a fun time to connect and play 😊 I’m not saying this will work for every single toddler, but it will work for most. In the case that you try this & they still won’t cooperate, then you’ll have to hold them down because teeth brushing is not a parenting choice & is necessary for your child’s health.
